Bradycardia
Care for Abnormally Slow Heart Rhythms
What is Bradycardia?
Bradycardia is a heart rate that is too slow—typically fewer than 60 beats per minute. While a slow heart rate can be normal for elite athletes, for others it can mean the heart isn't pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to the body.
Sinus Node Issues
Often called "Sick Sinus Syndrome," this happens when the heart's natural pacemaker doesn't send signals frequently enough.
Heart Block
This occurs when the electrical signal is delayed or blocked as it moves from the top to the bottom of the heart.
Advanced Treatments
Depending on the cause, our specialists may recommend several paths to restore a healthy rhythm:
Pacemaker Therapy: A small device that ensures your heart never beats below a safe rate.
Diagnostic Testing: EKG, Stress Tests, or Electrophysiologic (EP) studies.
Medication Review: Adjusting current prescriptions that may be slowing your heart rate.
