Biventricular Pacemaker & ICD

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT)

Restoring Your Heart's Rhythm

In a weakened heart, the left and right sides often beat out of sync. A Biventricular device uses three leads to ensure both sides of the heart contract together. This process, called Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy, helps the heart pump blood more efficiently and significantly improves symptoms of heart failure.

Dual Protection:

Many biventricular devices also include an ICD function, which acts as a "reset" device, delivering a life-saving shock if a dangerous, rapid heart rhythm is detected.

Is this device right for you?

This therapy is designed for patients with severe or moderate heart failure symptoms who meet specific criteria:

Symptoms: Shortness of breath, dry cough, or swelling in the ankles and legs.
History: Patients whose symptoms persist despite taking specialized heart medications.
Diagnosis: Delayed electrical activation of the heart's lower chambers.

Procedure & Recovery

⏱️ The Procedure

The implant takes 2–5 hours. You will be comfortable under sedation in our EP Lab while the leads are positioned to synchronize your heart.

🏥 Overnight Stay

You will stay overnight for monitoring. We perform an X-ray the next morning to confirm the perfect "spot" for the leads.

⚡ If you get a shock

If the ICD function delivers a shock, it means the device is doing its job. Contact our office for an appointment so we can check the event data.

Improve your heart's efficiency and your quality of life.
