Catheter Ablation
Precision Repair for Heart Rhythm Disorders
Stopping the "Short Circuit"
Catheter ablation is a highly effective, non-surgical technique used to eliminate abnormal electrical pathways in the heart. By neutralizing the tiny areas of tissue causing the "short circuit," our specialists can restore a normal, healthy rhythm without the need for major surgery.
Conditions Treated:
- Atrial Fibrillation & Flutter
- AVNRT (Extra pathways)
- Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
- Ventricular Tachycardia
What to Expect
A small incision is made (usually in the groin) to guide flexible catheters to the heart using advanced imaging.
Once the "misfiring" tissue is located, the doctor uses heat (radiofrequency) or cold (cryo) to block the abnormal signal.
The catheters are removed, and the heart is monitored to ensure the abnormal rhythm has been successfully corrected.
Recovery & Results
Immediate Recovery: You will lie flat for about 4 hours to ensure the insertion site heals. Most patients return home the same day or after one night.
Back to Normal: You can typically resume light activity within a few days. Dr. Goel will discuss any adjustments to your heart medications.
