Event Monitoring
Extended Heart Rhythm Recording
Capturing the "Hidden" Symptoms
Some heart conditions occur infrequently, making them difficult to detect during a standard EKG in the office. Event monitoring allows us to record your heart’s activity over a 24-hour period (or longer) while you go about your normal daily routine.
Why it's performed:
- To evaluate irregular heart rhythms
- To monitor heart health after a heart attack
- To check the effectiveness of cardiac medication
- To diagnose the cause of palpitations or fainting
Living with the Monitor
Hygiene
Shower before your appointment. You cannot get the monitor wet or remove it to bathe while the test is active.
Record Keeping
Keep a diary of your activities and any symptoms you feel. This helps the doctor correlate your rhythm with your actions.
Avoid Magnets
Stay away from magnets, metal detectors, and high-voltage areas, as these can interfere with the recording.
The procedure is painless and the device is small enough to be carried in a pocket or a small pouch around your neck, allowing for complete mobility.
